Our Story
How Mindy and Julia Built Rolling Reels
Long-time collaborators Mindy and Julia came together officially in 2023 with their feature film, “A Christmas in New Hope”, and have not looked back. They have both worked in front of the camera and behind the scenes, giving them a 360° perspective on how our industry effectively works during pre-production, production, and post-production. We thrive on challenge and collaboration and will bring your project to the next level!
Our Mission
To produce top-quality content, highlighting marginalized communities and themes, at a cost that works for both the filmmaker and our investors. In the world of ever-changing budgets, streaming wars, and the way we watch movies, Mindy and Julia are cracking the code with each film, bringing in a competitive ROI and having a blast while doing it!
Our Work

Complications arise when her ex returns home after touring Europe with his new album. Meanwhile, Victoria has fallen in love with her next-door neighbor, Gavin (Ryan Cooper), a Texas musician who has bonded with her daughter Charlie (Mia Analise Armstrong) while helping Victoria fix up her home, as well as her heart. Released Christmas 2024.

About Us
Julia Barnett
(Writer, Director, Actor)
Julia is a writer/director who has seamlessly made the transition from acting (Nashville, Fear The Walking Dead) in front of the camera to behind it. She made her directorial debut with “Chasing Grace” in 2017 at the SXSW TV & Film Festival. In 2023, she wrote and directed two features: "A Christmas in New Hope," starring Katrina Bowden, Adrianne Palicki, and Malcolm Goodwin, and "Texas Cult House," starring Adrianne Palicki, which premiered on opening night of the Austin Film Festival in 2024 and was released in October 2025. In 2023, Julia co-founded Rolling Reels Productions alongside Mindy, with a focus on genre storytelling that amplifies marginalized voices. Her next project, a horror/thriller titled “1989”, was awarded Second Rounder at the Austin Film Festival in 2024 and is currently in pre-production in partnership with The Coven sales agency, the force behind Terrifier 2&3.
Mindy Raymond
(Producer)
Mindy Raymond is a driving force in Texas filmmaking. As co-founder of Rolling Reels Productions, she partners with Julia to create films that reflect authenticity, inclusion, and Texas spirit. Beyond producing, Mindy has been a longtime advocate and leader in Texas film incentive policy, helping communities and productions alike benefit from the state’s creative industry growth. She also serves as Chair of the Advisory Board for Women in Film & Television Austin, where she champions opportunities for women and underrepresented voices in all areas of production. Her ability to connect people, projects, and purpose continues to define her work both on and off the set.
